  1. mmmkay so here we go.......

    1. to shag is to run and get the balls that are scattered all over the court

    2.  a libero is a position that i play and it is basically a ds (defensive specialist) if you know what that is...they digg all the balls and are the main backrow person, we can't usually serve except in college, and can sub in for both of the middle blockers, the word libero means "free" in greek and we can sub in freely so like without using a subsitution like any other player has to use, because of this we must wear an opposite color jersey, contrasting the other team member's jersey, so that the reffs can recognize us

    3. um to tape your self....hmm well you usually dont tape yourself, you can usually go to a trainer a tournament or even have your coach or teammates tape for you

    4. a pancake is where the ball is like about to hit the floor but someone (usually the libero or ds) dives after it, sprawls, sticks out their hand and it goes underneath the ball and the ball lands on it and pops up...called pancake cause the hand is flat on the ground

    5.  a sideout is when the other team is serving the ball/has possession of the ball and you get the point...so like if you got the point after the other team was serving it/had it, then it would be called a sideout

***hope i helped and good luck!!!

  2. 1. Go pick up the balls off the court

    2. A player that can go in for any backrow player without subbing.

    3. Depends, ask your coach or teammates to help.

    4. The ball is about to hit the floor and someone dives for it and sticks their hand out(palm face) down and usually it pops up and a teammate can come get it.

    5. The other team serves and you get the point back while receiving.

  3. 1. "shag" means to go and pick up all of the balls.

so if a coach says to you "shag em up" it basically just means go and retrieve all the balls. and usually...they want em FAST

    2. "libero" aka "defensive specialist" OR "DS" is a special position in volleyball. basically the libero only plays back row, rarely ever hits (or spikes) the ball, and is there to dig the opponents hits and serves. basically...they play defense.  also..they can be substituted with any player in the back row AND theyre substitution doesnt count as a substitution. up until recently they werent allowed to serve. but i think its only acceptable in certain levels of the sport (not sure what they are though...sorry)

    3. honestly...it depends on what your taping. if you arent sure...you can either ask fellow teammates, your coach, or if you have a trainer they should all be able to help :]

    4. pancake is when you dive for a ball and lay your hand flat (like a pancake) and just before the ball hits the floor it lands on your hand instead...making the ball still in play. it doesnt happen that often in a game...and it usually should be your last ditch effort to get the ball back up.

    5. sideout means when the opposing team hits the ball out of bounds. either you hit it and they dig it out of bounds, they hit it over the net and it goes out of bounds, they serve it out of bounds, or they just all together mess up and you still get the point.

usually when you hear a team yell "sideout" they are recieving the serve.

HOPE ive helped....obviously im a volleyball player...but im hoping that i explained your questions well enough for you!

  4. 1. pick up all the balls

    2. deffence specialist and they only play back row

3.it deppends what you are taping

4.its like an extention with your palms flat on the floor

    5. it means the other team hits it out of bounds

    hope i helped

  5. 1. Shag: Shag means to collect the balls. Like shagging the balls after a drill.

    2. The libero is a designated back-row player, intended to be used as a ball-control specialist and the libero can replace any player if they aren't doing well or something. ( my friend is one) They aren't usually in school teams (i think, we don't have one)but when you get to varsity, then you will probably have one.

    3. Wait, do you mean like video tape yourself? Use a video camera? or do you mean using the tape used in like lots of sports? then look at this link http://www.ehow.com/how_2070494_tape-wea...

    4. Pancake:one-handed defensive save where the hand is extended and the palm is slid flat (like a pancake!) along the floor as the player dives for the ball; timed so the ball bounces off the back of the hand.

5.Sideout: receiving team wins a rally, earning the right to serve.

  6. 1) Shag is just slang for collect or pick up... such as go shag those balls.

    2) Libero literally means "free" but it is the defensive player in the different colored uniform.  They are a free substitution that has to abide by different rules.

    3) I would guess if you need to ask this, you don't need to.  As you progress ankle and finger taping would be good if needed but you can do without.

    4) Pancake is a desperation move where your hand is flat under the ball while in a full dive.  Should ONLY be used as a last resort.

    5) Sideout is simply winning the server back.  If the other team is serving you will need to "sideout" to get the serve to your side.

    Hope that helps.

  7. i only kno wut 4. & 5. is..

4.Pancake: A one-hand floor defensive technique where the hand is extended and slid along the floor palm down while the player dives or extension rolls, so that the ball bounces off the back of the hand.

5.Side-Out: Occurs when the receiving team successfully puts the ball away against the serving team, or when the serving team commits an unforced error, and the receiving team thus gains the right to serve.

      btw-im a volleyball player..
