Lotus F1 Team seeking permission for private test to make up for second test – Formula 1 news
Lotus F1 Team are currently seeking permission from its Formula 1 rivals for conducting a private for three days test after it has resolved the problems with the chassis.
Lotus missed out the three days testing at the second pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona after it discovered an unspecified issue with its new E20-02 chassis. Moreover, the team initially intended to replace the new chassis with the
old one, E20-01, which it used in the first test at Jerez Circuit, Spain but later it decided that there is a need for some work to be done on both the chassis.
Oskari Saari, Formula 1 race commentator who is currently working for the Finnish broadcaster MTV3 has asserted that he has confirmed that Lotus will surely seek permission for a three-day private test in order to make up for the loss of the testing during
this week, from its contenders.
“As they are based in Britain, then you would think that it would be at Silverstone,” said Oskari.
Since Mercedes was given the permission of a private day for testing at Barcelona on Sunday after departing from the first test a day early, Lotus have instantly started to look for the similar agreement like them after missing this week’s test.
However, Oskari agreed that after seeing the pace of new E20 car of Lotus at Jerez, the opponents will not be dedicated to allow Lotus to change its programme.
“However, I would imagine it is quite likely that the request will go through,” Oskari said. “Every now and then, every team sometimes needs a helping hand from the others.”
Moreover, the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has said that he was quite confident that the team would be successful in resolving the problems of the new car and we expect that the team will do well in the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season.
"We have quickly identified the issue with the chassis and our design office has already devised a solution,” said Eric.
