Lotus Renault's Eric Boullier wants to rediscover his drivers’ “chemistry”
According to Eric Boullier, the team boss of Lotus Renault GP, his team is getting closer in rediscovering its drivers’ chemistry this year, which he believes is a requirement if the team wants to secure some victories as well this year.
Eric had to go through a lot of problems this year, as he lost Robert Kubica for the 2011 Formula 1 season, as a result of a near-fatal accident during a Rally event a couple of days before the 2nd pre-season test session.
Robert was expected to be one of the top running drivers of the 2011 Formula 1 season but unfortunately, the team had to find another driver and the team ended up with Nick Heidfeld.
Since the team changed its full season drivers’ line-up at the very last second, it was getting quite difficult for them to blend in with both of its drivers but since the team has been performing pretty well since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season
with 2 podiums in 3 races, Boullier now believes that the team’s chemistry is getting much better.
“With the word 'if' I would be world champion... so I don't want to think about it. I think we need to not underestimate the progress of Vitaly. My job is to make sure my drivers feel confident and that they improve over the year - so you have this spike
of performance”, said Eric.
He thinks that the team’s biggest achievement this year has been self belief because of which the team will score even better results in the long run.
“Mentally, it is very important for them to feel they can do better and that the team is here to support and give them the tools to do even better. So as a team we have to be careful about the environment and to make sure that we can put the drivers in a
situation where they can deliver more and more”, he added.
As a result, the team is heading to Turkey with a more positive attitude and they are hoping to make some improvements soon, as well in order to compete alongside the top running teams probably at the coming races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
