Lotus Renault GP aiming for strong finish at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s race engineer Alan Permane has recently stated that he is confident about the team’s chances of scoring a good performance at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
The Marina Bay is a street circuit similar to Monte Carlo where the Monaco Grand Prix takes place.
Renault have not been able to score satisfactory results after the first 2 races of the 2011 Formula 1 season but it seems that Permane is quite optimistic about the team’s chances this weekend since the team is upgrading its car as well.
“We've got an update that just gives us pure downforce across both cars, so that will work here, it'll work everywhere we go for the rest of the season. It'll just give us a couple of tenths, which is good,” he said.
He added that the team struggled to perform on similar turf this year but that was in the past and he is aiming for much better results for the remainder of the season.
“Whilst I wouldn't say I'm as confident as I was in Spa, I'm far more confident because the data shows the car is working, is much better than it has been. Our aim is of course to do as well as we can but we will really try to get both cars in to the top
ten here and I think that's achievable,” said Permane.
The team replaced Nick Heidfeld after the one-month summer break and now, Bruno Senna is expected to drive for the team as a race driver until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Senna joined the team as a test driver but now, it seems that the team is satisfied with his performance and they are still keeping their options open for their 2012 drivers’ line-up. Since the injured Robert Kubica is also expected to return to the team,
let’s see who are the final two drivers for Renault for the next season.
