Lotus Renault GP deny commenting on Nick Heidfeld’s replacement for Belgian GP – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP have recently denied commenting on rumours that Nick Heidfeld will be replaced by Bruno Senna for the Belgian Grand Prix which is expected to take place this coming weekend at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps.
“We do not want to comment on speculation,” a Renault spokesperson has been quoted as saying.
Many reports have unofficially confirmed that this replacement is indeed going to take place and further reports have also revealed that Heidfeld might even take some legal action against the team for this decision.
Heidfeld became a part of Renault at the 11th hour as Robert Kubica went through a near-fatal rally accident just a couple of weeks before the beginning of the season as a result of which, the team decided to sign an
experienced driver like Nick to the team.
The funny thing about this whole story is that even Heidfeld’s management has refused to comment regarding this matter as a result of which these reports seem legitimate and on the bright side, this is going to be a great opportunity for the young Senna.
However, things are not so simple for Senna either has reports revealed that he will be given the seat only if his Brazilian sponsors sign a contract with the team. With all of this confusion, none of the parties has commented anything regarding this matter
which is making things worse for both the team and the fans.
These sorts of ‘decisions’ usually turn out to be a failure and one has to admit that the team is maybe going a bit too hard on Heidfeld. Vitaly Petrov is not as experienced as Heidfeld, but still he has some responsibilities as well.
Right now, it seems that the team completely relied on their German driver in terms of development and results which seems quite absurd.
However, looking at things from the other side, it is quite disappointing to see an experienced driver like Heidfeld still struggling to perform at his best despite the fact that he has been provided with a very competitive car.
