Lotus Renault GP driver Vitaly Petrov says all teams working hard for Australian GP – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 Renault driver Vitaly Petrov has recently updated the media that all F1 drivers are working hard for the opening race of the season.
He mentioned may be they did not work hard and it was difficult to judge Renault’s current condition before the season.
The 26-year-old Petrov pointed out Red Bull’s strong performance and said the team was very competitive over the session but still nothing can be predicted for the up-coming season.
On the other hand, the Russian admitted ahead of poor performance of his car that, in the first test session the R31 car showed a poor run.
He said, “In the beginning on the first day of testing I was not happy about the car. I was thinking I was in the s*** maybe, because it was really difficult to drive with these tyres. If the car started to lose the rear, you couldn't control it because
it was so quick.”
Petrov also drove over the second test session in Jerez. His teammate Nick Heidfeld took over driving duties for Renault as injured Robert Kubica was ruled out of the season for quite some time following his rally crash in February.
In the third Barcelona test, both drivers experienced massive issues in their new R31 car.
Renault started their last Barcelona test session on March 8, 2011 and showed promising run during the two days.
Dealing with the tyres, he accepted that the new Pirelli tyres are quite quick than the 2010 Bridgestone tyres because these new tyres are difficult to control due to their soft compounds.
He added, “But now that we have a lot of new aero parts and a lot of other new things it is getting better and better. I think after a few grand’s prix we will have more parts coming and it will be much better.”
Nick Heidfeld will end the last test session in Barcelona.
