Lotus Renault GP has made some real progress this year – Vitaly Petrov
Lotus Renault GP’s Vitaly Petrov has recently stated that the team has made a lot of progress this year and the team is hoping to improve even more before the start of the European races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“We have made real progress this year with the design of the car and innovations and it looks very strong. We have had some good races and took two podiums. We’ve also had some bad luck but we’ve still remained strong. Things are looking good for us I think”,
said Vitaly.
The Turkish Grand Prix is expected to take place next week and it is going to be the first European race of the season.
Renault has been performing very well this year, as both of it s drivers scored a podium each at the first 2 races of the season. 2 podiums in 3 races is pretty good for the team and statistically, Renault is just 18 points behind Ferrari in the constructors’
standings.
“I’m pleased with my performance so far and with the results we have obtained but we need to stay focused and continue to work at the same rate”, said the Russian driver.
This is the start the team was hoping for since the beginning, but since the team was unable to score a single point at the Chinese Grand Prix due to some technical problems with their car, the team is now hoping to improve its car before heading on to Turkey.
Vitally enjoys driving at the Istanbul International circuit a lot and he is quite excited about the upcoming race.
“I like the layout of the circuit, it has a lot of slow and fast corners, a good mix of everything but at the same time quite a technical circuit, we all know about the famous Turn 8 in Istanbul”, he added.
In terms of championship, the team is looking very strong this year and if Lotus Renault GP keeps it up like this, they would give Ferrari a very tough time in terms of points.
