Lotus Renault GP hoping of good show in 2011 Japanese Grand Prix qualifiers – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus Renault GP is hoping for a good show in the qualifiers of the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit.
The team is happy at their performance in the first two practice sessions held on Friday, October 7, 2011 and is looking forward to an even better performance at the race on Sunday.
The team has shown a marked improvement in their pace from the recently held Singapore race at Marina Bay Street Circuit where both of their cars could not produce any noteworthy results.
The Enstone-based outfit is glad to see that the Suzuka track has suited their cars well. The Russian Vitaly Petrov finished the second free practice session in the ninth place while his teammate Bruno Senna who had to face some problem with his car’s balance
earlier during the day, was only able to finish at 14th.
The Brazilian driver was seen to have some issues with the balance of his car, however the problem was fixed and Senna said he had an amazing day at the Suzuka circuit.
Senna said, “The main problem we have been struggling with is oversteer, in particular some snap oversteer at turn 1 which resulted in a quick spin, but I managed to return to the circuit with help from the excellent marshals here and no harm done and continued
with the programme. There's still a lot of work to do tomorrow, and that work starts now.”
The Russian driver Petrov thinks that the team is on the right track as they are clear about their goals and after their car’s performance at Suzuka in the recent practice sessions, it seems that things are moving in their favour.
Petrov said, “We had to change the power steering rack in the morning but this did not affect the programme as I still achieved the laps I set out to. If we continue in the same vein tomorrow we should be well placed for Sunday.”
Let’s see how the team performs in the qualifying session and later at the race on Sunday, October 9, 2011.
