Lotus Renault GP set to launch its new car at the pre-season test session in Valencia
Lotus Renault GP has been one of the “highlight teams” after the 2010 Formula 1 season came to an end. The team recently joined hands with Group Lotus and as a result, the team changed its name from RenaultF1 to Lotus Renault GP after Group Lotus departed
from Team Lotus.
Renault also revealed that they will keep Vitaly Petrov as well alongside Robert Kubica as their drivers for the 2011 season. It is expected that they are going to be one of the best mid running teams of the 2011 Formula 1 championship but since the team
signed with Group Lotus, most of their fans are expecting even more than that.
The team recently announced that they will launch their 2011 Formula 1 car at the first pre-season test session in Valencia. The R31 will be decorated in a JPS Lotus-inspired livery. It is expected that there are going to be two Lotus cars in 2011 and it
would be interesting to see how both of the teams compete against each other especially because of the fact that both of the teams are quite openly against each other.
Renault performed very well in 2010 as the team finished in 5th place in the constructors’ standings behind Team Mercedes. One has to admit that all the credit goes to Robert Kubica as he gave an extra ordinary performance this season by scoring
136 points to earn the 8th place in the drivers’ standings in an average Renault.
Nevertheless, the team hopes to perform a lot better in 2011 and the car designed by James Allison will be quite an interesting piece of machinery.
Since the teams are allowed to use KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and adjustable rear wings, the fans are quite anxious to see what the teams come up with and how the teams distribute the power and grip levels of a car.
Other than Renault, Sauber and Ferrari are also expected to reveal their new cars at the test session and fans can't seem to wait for the much awaited 'eye candy'.
