Lotus-Renault confirm Kimi Raikkonen for 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Lotus-Renault have confirmed Kimi Raikkonen for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
The team boss Eric Boullier talked to the media and confirmed that Raikkonen will take part in the 2012 F1 season for Renault.
Boullier added that Kimi is very motivated and determined to come back to the sport after the team Ferrari forced retirement in 2009.
Raikkonen was a part of Formula 1 sport from 2001 to 2009. He comes back to the sport, as the team Lotus-Renault brought him to the stream of Formula 1 recently for the next year.
The team boss also mentioned that despite to know Kimi is not racing in Formula 1 since the last two years they confirmed Finn driver for the next season, because he is a world champion and everyone knows about his race speed.
Boullier believes Kimi will do better for them in the next F1 season.
He commented, “It is very good news for the team and shows it has big ambitions for the future. An F1 world champion obviously makes a difference and I think his expectation and level of commitment will be at the level of a high class driver, so I am very
excited and very happy to work with him.”
Boullier went on to mention, “We clearly have this season behind us and we look forward to racing next season, and definitely we will make some differences over the course of the next three months.”
Apart from that, the Enstone-based outfit boss stated that they want Lotus to be a top team in future and that for the upcoming season their aim is to fight and be on the podium. In addition, Boullier mentioned that the team have some very exciting announcements
in the next few days and that will be key to the future of them.
The team Renault is not satisfied with their 2011 F1 season’s performance. After taking part in 19 rounds, Lotus-Renault are placed at the fifth position with 73 points in the end of the championship in standings.
On the other hand, the team Renault is working on their next year’s car. They are hopeful of taking a strong start to the 2012 F1 season with their more upgraded package.
