Lotus-Renault driver Vitaly Petrov apologises to team for recent outburst – Formula 1 news
Lotus-Renault driver Vitaly Petrov has apologised for the recent outburst against the team.
Petrov said that this is Formula 1 and it is a business, so everything can be expected in it.
He talked about Williams and said that they have almost 20 drivers waiting in queue for a second seat at the side but he was not amongst them.
The Russian driver discussed his recent interview and stated that he did not criticise a team that lost many times and they can read that interview again.
Talking to reporters, Petrov commented, “How much have we lost on pitstops? How much have we lost on tactics? Due to that kind of thing we lost [places in], I can say, about ten races, if not more. Unfortunately, I couldn't say in an interview that we lost
due to poor pitstops once again, or something.”
He added that he still cannot speak about it, as he respects his contract, but on the same hand he also cannot remain silent anymore.
On the other hand, Petrov’s manager Oksana Kossatchenko talked about the driver outburst through an interview. He continued that it was an emotional interview of Petrov, it was an exception and he apologised afterwards to the team.
He added that has assured the team that it will never happen again and they are really sorry for that.
The team driver discussed the 2011 Formula 1 season so far and went on to mention, “Of course, the first podium (in Australia) was inspiring, for me, the whole of Russia, all the fans. But then I was just angry with everything and tried to do something.”
The 27-year-old driver still has a contract with Renault and that will be completed at the end of 2012.
On the other side, the team is planning to confirm Petrov’s teammate for the next season. They decided that the GP2 Series driver Romain Grosjean will start the next year for Renault if their injured driver Robert Kubica will not be able to rejoin them.
Let’s see if Petrov feels comfortable with his team after the matter or not.
