Lotus-Renault duo Trulli, Kovalainen says Silverstone is a big race for them – Formula 1 news
Lotus-Renault drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen have said that the upcoming Silverstone Grand Prix is a big race for them and that they are looking forward to a successful race weekend in Britain.
The team drivers are very hopeful for the British Grand Prix that they can score some points for the team at the Silverstone racetrack.
Lotus driver Trulli said that he is sure British Grand Prix will be a classic race event, as the British fans are very kind to him and that they will give him full support over the race weekend. He admitted that he had a very good time during the 2010 British
Grand Prix, because the fans were very supportive to him.
The Italian driver discussed the upcoming race weekend and added that the qualifying round would be tough for the team due to managing the degradation of both soft and hard compounds of Pirelli tyres during that.
The 36-year-old driver further added, “If there is a big gap in laptimes between them that could play into our hands – we’ll see. The effect of DRS will also create more overtaking on Sunday than we’ve had for a long time, so hopefully we can take advantage
of that and keep taking the battle to the cars ahead.”
He further discussed the Silverstone track and said, “The sector through Copse is taken at over 280kmh and then as you come into Maggots and Becketts it’s all about staying committed and keeping the car balanced through the whole section, right until the
flat-out run up to Stowe.”
The 29-year-old driver believes the race at the Silverstone racetrack will be busy this year due to the unpredictable behaviour of soft and hard compounds and with the Drag Reduction System.
Both the drivers Kovalainen and Trulli finished in disappointing 19th and 20th places respectively at the recently held European Grand Prix.
Despite all of that, Lotus are hoping for better race results in the upcoming British Grand Prix which starts off from July 8, 2011.
