Lotus all set to fight for the championship title – Formula 1 news
Lotus technical director, James Allison has said that they are prepared to fight for the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship title with their talented and experienced drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.
Allison said that their objective was to secure fourth position in the constructors’ championship this year. Moreover, he said that although they have performed tremendously well in the season until now, however, he asserted that the competition is very
tight and they need to work really hard to be able to stand amongst the top teams in the title fight.
“Our official target was fourth. That is what we set at the start of the year. That is a stiff thing to ask of this team as this is a very difficult sport to prosper in,” he said.
In addition, he insisted that they have not yet exercised their true potential in the season so far and they must make the considerable advancement and the substantial preparations so as to be able to come up stronger in the approaching races.
He also said that they have got one of the most competitive cars and an extraordinarily talented pair of drivers to fight for the title.
“I think we can do better than that, I think it is going to be tight all the way to the end of the year, I think we have the car and we have the drivers to go better than that,” he added.
It will be important to mention that Raikkonen has been deemed as a major threat for all the contenders in the front as he has performed inspiringly well in the first half of the season and has secured five podium finishes.
On the other hand, Grosjean has also delivered quite convincing performances in the first eleven grands prix. However, the Enstone based team has not yet scored a race win as they lack the required qualifying pace to secure a higher grid slot for a competitive
race start.
Nonetheless, they are not upset and are confidently targeting to enhance their qualifying as well as their race pace in the upcoming races. Let’s see how the British squad shows up in the Belgian GP after the summer smash.
