Lotus boss Eric Boullier looking to have a word with Romain Grosjean – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that he is looking forward to have a conversation with their driver, Romain Grosjean who had a really tough weekend in Monte Carlo.
Grosjean had two heavy crashes in second and third free practice sessions at Circuit de Monaco and failed to make his way into the third qualifying session on Saturday. Later, on the race day, he had a collision with Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso because of which he was retired.
It is to be noted that the French driver will have to face a ten-place grid penalty in the Canadian Grand Prix for causing the accident in the last race.
Boullier has said that the 27-year-old must keep up his pace and should not get frustrated over the incidents happened in the preceding round. Furthermore, he said that he will have a meeting with the Frenchman to make sure that he releases his pressure and gets back on track.
“Keep the pace and make sure he's back under control like he was at the beginning of the season! I'll sit down with him and let's go through the weekend. Obviously it's always the same story, especially in Monaco, he had the pace. We could see it, so it's even more frustrating because of that. Thursday's accident didn't help but it happened. The rest of the story went worse on Saturday morning,” Boullier said.
“Building his frustration was again Ricciardo which didn't allow him to complete Q2 like he should have done and ended up 13th on grid just to finish his frustration,” he added.
At present, Grosjean is standing at 9th place in the drivers’ championship with 26 points. Besides, he is ahead of his main rival, Jenson Button of McLaren and behind Paul di Resta of Force India. He took a convincing start to this season and impressed everyone with his remarkable pace in the Bahrain GP in which he managed to secure third podium finish.
It will be important to mention that Grosjean caused many accidents during the previous year because of which he had to face many penalties. Let’s see how he shows up in the season ahead.
