Lotus boss Eric Boullier says the team is not disappointed over the Hungarian GP result – Formula 1
Lotus boss Eric Boullier has said that there is no disappointment over the result of the Hungarian Grand Prix after a win eluded the team once again.
Lotus did very well throughout the weekend during the Hungarian GP and finished the race with vital points but despite having both its drivers hitting podium finishes the team was not able to record a win something that has eluded them throughout the season
so far.
Between Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean the team has had seven podiums, which shows the number of chances the team has had over the season so far to get a win. They have been consistently performing which a big plus for the team and has kept them in contention
for both titles but they now realise that if they are to be successful in the season they have to win races.
Team principal Eric Boullier has said that he is overjoyed by the performance of the team at Hungary and said that it was better than Bahrain GP where the team was also able to score 33 points.
“Both cars on the podium on a twisty circuit like this is good for the team and it is better than Bahrain, because we had a bad weekend at Hockenheim with Romain,” he said. “The drivers had a good race and tried to catch the leader, but we knew this track
would be very difficult to overtake.”
“We are happy with qualifying, as we prepared differently for it, and it worked. So both cars were in the top five. If we can produce this for the rest of the season then we will be in the position to fight for the win,” he added.
Boullier added that the ambition of the team is to be better than last year. That is something they have already achieved. The team has been able to show pace in all sorts of conditions and that is something that has made Boullier revise the team’s ambitions
for the season.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares as the season progresses after the summer break.
