Lotus driver Jarno Trulli: The real problem is with the power steering – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 team Lotus driver Jarno Trulli has said that he cannot make improvements in his performance with the car’s power steering issue.
Trulli is still not able to perform well in the 2011 Formula 1 season. The team driver admitted that the real problem is with the power steering of the new T128 car that delayed his best finish on the grid in the season so far.
Before the start of this season, Lotus was expecting that their drivers will have a strong fight. However, due to some issues with their cars they were unable to make improvements in their performance.
The Italian driver added, “These are not good times for me: the car is not efficient in its aerodynamics. After a 2010 of settling in, I was expecting to be fighting in the middle of the pack, instead we are always at the back. Lotus is still building up
experience.”
He further added that his teammate Heikki Kovalainen did not face power steering issues in the season so far and due to that he had remained ahead of him until now.
The 36-year-old driver went on to mention, “Kovalainen, instead, doesn't have these problems, so he goes quicker than me. In qualifying I can never bring out the best, while I do well at race starts, when the car is heavy because of the fuel load. But when
it gets lighter it’s trouble for me.”
Trulli’s contract with Lotus team will end after this year. However, he has already announced that he is ready to leave this sport if his current team does not provide him with a competitive car.
The team driver said that he wants to score points for the team. In addition, he added that he wants to win a race in the season, as every driver has this wish in his career.
In the recently held Canadian Grand Prix, Trulli finished his race at the 16th place for the team, while the teammate Kovalainen retired from the race due to some technical issues in his car.
Despite his performance in the season so far, he wants to make good progress in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
