Lotus driver Jarno Trulli hoping for a better car in 2011
Lotus driver Jarno Trulli has been a part of Formula One since 1997 and it seems that he has always been just another driver who never managed to prove himself or make it to the top. However, Jarno had many chances but it seems
that aggressive driving and fast lap times are just not a part of Jarno’s nature.
Trulli joined Lotus hoping that they might provide him with a promising car and continue the legacy of Team Lotus. But it seems that just like the 3 new teams, Lotus also struggled but proved that it is better than HRT and the
Virgin Racing Team.
Jarno admits that he does not want to leave Formula One yet as he is hoping for a competitive and fast car for 2011 and therefore, he will be driving for Lotus for another year.
The team was unable to score a single point this year and it was quite disappointing to see a team that has won 7 Championships in the past make such a disappointing return to the sport after almost 16 years.
Tony Fernandes decided to name his Malaysian team under the famous name Lotus with copyrights and support from Group Lotus.
“At the first test it was obvious what the facts were. I knew the year was over and the only way to keep motivation was to count down to next season. Of course, I expected a difficult season in terms of performance, but not so
much on the reliability side,” Trulli told the media.
Lotus was the only team out of the three new teams to pick good experienced drivers. Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli teamed up alongside each other in 2010 and it seems that Lotus might not change its driver’s line-up for 2011
either.
“It was important to beat the other newcomers to finish tenth in the World Championship, so it doesn't matter if you're not performing as you want or are tired of the hydraulics failing -- the team comes first,” he added.
However, after a disappointing debut season for the team, the team believes that they are now aware of the current situation in the sport and they might be able to improve their car and achieve better results.
“Anyway, the season is over now. I managed to motivate myself until the last race and I'm really looking forward to 2011,” said Trulli.
