Lotus driver Jarno Trulli troubled by power steering issues: Formula One news
Lotus driver Jarno Trulli has blamed issues with his power steering as the reason behind his inability to deliver in the ongoing Formula One season. Although Lotus were hopeful of a better performance in the 2011 season, the team has not yet scored its maiden
points in the sport.
Trulli told reporters, “I am still struggling quite a lot with the power steering. We have the issue with it, which is affecting me a lot and I am not able to feel it - which doesn't help when there are also problems with the tyres. I hope I can get this
sorted soon.”
The Italian driver further added, “The team is working on this more than the aero updates, as it really is for me the main issue. I can't feel the car; I can't drive it. But once the power steering is fixed then I think I can give the team everything they
want in terms of feedback.”
The frustrating thing for Trulli and Lotus has been their inability to get rid of the problem, which has hampered the performance of the driver so far this season. The team has tried several solutions, but none has been successful until now.
The situation is not very pleasing for the veteran driver, but he expects to get all systems working on his car before the start of the Turkish Grand Prix, which takes place on Sunday, 8th May.
Lotus have planned major upgrades after the next race of the season and the team is optimistic about scoring points in 2011. The team will bring its own version of the blown diffuser, which was initially introduced by reigning champions, Red Bull racing
team.
Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel started his title defence in brilliant fashion, winning the opening two races of the season in Australia and Malaysia. He was unmatched in terms of pace in qualifiers and the race. However, McLaren came a long way, challenging
the reigning champions for victories.
The Vodafone sponsored team was unable to end the dominance of Vettel in the qualifiers, but won the Chinese Grand Prix convincingly. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton took victory in China by a solid margin of more than five seconds.
