Lotus driver Romain Grosjean emphasises on a clean start – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean of team Lotus has confessed that it is important to have a clean start in the race after he finished at seventh position in the Korean Grand Prix last weekend.
The driver has been facing some problems regarding his starts in the race which have resulted in various unwanted incidents. The most recent incident occurred when he slammed into Red Bull’s Mark Webber at the beginning of the Japanese Grand Prix. He has
been under a lot of criticism for these encounters and hence Grosjean has been focusing to take clean starts to races.
During a questions and answers on Saturday before the Korean Grand Prix, Grosjean had admitted that he is looking forward to a clean start in the race. He pointed out that the issue has been causing much hype so that other drivers know that and might try
to pressurise him. He said he has his objectives defined and has the ability to bring on a good race.
Grosjean has come out to be true with his word as he was successful in realising his goals this Sunday. He finally was able to make a nice beginning to the race without encountering any incident.
“It was an important day for me,” Grosjean told Sky. “Important to have no trouble at the start, there are four more races to do the same. A lot of work this week trying to understand everything in order to capitalise on what we can, so in qualifying we
knew would be fine, the race was fine, but then it was only 1m30s of the race that I needed to really work on. Today we were safe there, not taking any risks and then we did the best we could in the race.”
He admitted that the morning of the race had definitely not been easy for him. He said he was trying hard to keep out of trouble with any of the drivers on the field.
Team Principal for Lotus, Eric Boullier, also appreciated the driver commenting that he performed really well despite being under so much performance. He said that the recent race is a cause of relief for him.
