Lotus driver Romain Grosjean says they have learnt a lot in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has said that they have learnt a lot in the 2012 Formula 1 season and are looking forward to maximise their potential for the next year.
Grosjean said that they had a very good start in 2012 and performed with great consistency throughout the year. Furthermore, he said that even though they faced few problems during the season, but they have found the necessary solutions for them and will
try to work hard in the winter testing in order to come up stronger in the coming year.
“We learned a lot this year about the car, the tyres, the set-up of an F1 car,” Grosjean said. “We were quite good at the start of the year, but even in last two grands prix we were looking good.”
“We solved our little issues, got very good set-up for end of the year and I'm confident that in winter testing we can try different set-up ideas that we had in season but didn't have time to try,” he said.
“From there, we will have set-up range to best prepare for race weekends and be able to take right decisions,” he added.
Besides, he said that they can surely attain better results in the next season for which he is ready to deliver his best.
The Frenchman secured 8th place finish in this year’s drivers’ championship with 96 points. Besides, he stood ahead of his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen performed tremendously well during the season and impressed everyone with his superb consistency.
Although, Raikkonen could only achieve one race victory at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Nonetheless, he managed to secure third position in the drivers’ championship with 207 points. Additionally, he remained ahead of his major opponent, Lewis Hamilton
of McLaren and behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
At present, all the teams are focussing to make the most out of the winter testing. Let’s see whether the Enstone based squad will be able to improve the pace of their car for the next season or not.
