Lotus hope to strike back in the 2013 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier, has said that they are hoping to strike back in the 2013 British Grand Prix with some important updates in their car despite facing immense problems in the last two races.
Kimi Raikkonen of the Enstone based team has only been able to score three points in the preceding two races. In the Canadian GP, he came 9th while in the Monaco GP, he could only secure 10th place finish
because of his collision with Sergio Perez of McLaren during the ending laps. On the other hand, his teammate, Romain Grosjean failed to score even single point in Canada and Monaco.
Despite losing some important points in the championship fight, Boullier has expressed that they are not feeling disappointed and are positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming race. In addition, he said that
they are aiming to introduce some essential updates at Silverstone and are eying to come up stronger in order to compete well with their rivals.
“We have lost positions, so we have to work hard to keep the pace because the car is competitive, the team is competitive and there is no reason we cannot be back and fighting for podiums,” Boullier is quoted by Sky Sports.
“It is because the package is competitive, we may struggle sometimes on some tracks, but we know this know and we have to work on this now to avoid this happening again this season on low-energy tracks. We have to make a step forward,
we have some developments coming for Silverstone, so that should help to close the gap to the leaders,” he added.
Presently, the British squad is standing at 4th place in the constructors’ championship with 114 points. Moreover, they are ahead of Force India and behind their main rival, Mercedes.
Meanwhile, the Finnish driver is at third place in the drivers’ championship with 88 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
In contrast, Grosjean is at 9th place in the drivers’ championship with 26 points. Besides, he is ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
It will be interesting to see how Lotus drivers perform in the season ahead.
