Lotus look forward for a trouble free race at Monza
Although, it is true that every driver and every team wants to win each and every race but at the same time this is true as well that some tracks have more glory then the others and winning there adds much more to the prestige of the driver as well as the team. One such track is the Monza Circuit in Italy.
Being one of the oldest but fastest tracks, it has a class of its own. Like Monaco or Spa Francorchamps, winning or at least perform well here adds to the pride and jubilation of teams. As the Formula One caravan moves ahead for the next round of this season which is the Italian Grand Prix, Lotus, the team having their debut season with Formula One seem very excited and optimistic despite the fact that the season was not free of problems for them.
Heikki Kovalainen, the Lotus driver told reporters that he is looking forward to the race with much anticipation as he feels extremely good in his present physical as well as mental health and hopes to bring the best out of himself at this track. He said, “Monza is one of the real highlights of the year and it’ll be good to be back in Italy.” He continued that it is the most unique track of the calendar that has offered a great atmosphere year after year while the Italian fans also have always showered their loved on Formula One.
This race is a very special one for the other Lotus driver, Jarno Trulli, as he would be racing in his home town. In an interview, Trulli said, “Monza is a very special Grand Prix. We Italian drivers have fantastic support out there, and the fans are really fired up. It’s such a warm atmosphere; you can’t help but enjoy it.”
The Lotus team principal, Tony Fernandes also commented on the upcoming race and stated that he had to watch the last few races on TV as other commitments kept him away, so it’ll be good to be back on track in Italy. He added that this race is very special for him as only a year back, on September 12th, his dream of having a Formula One team came true. He now is really jubilant as after a year’s time, his team is contending at one of the world’s greatest tracks.
Moreover, Mike Gascoyne, the chief technical officer of Lotus also expressed his excitement on the way his team had emerged during a year’s time, although that was filled with lots of highs and lows. He added that the last week at Spa was one of their best races so far in a number of ways. Meanwhile, Kovalainen and Trulli were not only able to complete the race at Spa but they also remained ahead of the other rookie teams as Kovalainen ended the race at sixteenth place while Truilli ended at nineteenth.
Although, the team has had a few other good finishes as well but Spa is considered their best where the team hardly faced any reliability issues. Well, one week and a couple of days are yet to go before action would unfold at the legendry Monza Circuit.
