Lotus look forward to run Kimi Raikkonen at Young Driver Test in Silverstone – Formula 1 News
Lotus have announced that their driver, Kimi Raikkonen will run E21 in the Young Driver Test which is to be held at Silverstone circuit next week.
Raikkonen will run the car on the last day of the test to evaluate the Pirelli tyres. Furthermore, he will be accompanied by the test drivers, Nicolas Prost and Davide Valsecchi, who will be driving on the first two days of the
test. Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that they are extremely happy with their car development process in the season until now and are positively looking forward to take part in the approaching test to make further advancements in their car.
In addition, Boullier said that they have planned to test some major updates in their car at Silverstone circuit and are hoping to see improvement in the pace of their car. Moreover, he admired the contribution of Prost and Valsecchi
in gather the essential data which helped them in making significant developments in their car during the previous tests.
“It's great timing for us to have this season's Young Driver Test scheduled in the middle of the year as it allows us to evaluate more of the new parts we have for the E21 as the championship battle intensifies,” Boullier said.
“Remarkably, the UK has been having some notably good weather recently so we're looking forward to getting some good running across the three days.”
“By running Nicolas and Davide we are giving them both invaluable experience and also gaining great feedback, as we've previously seen what they can do in the car and appreciate the valuable information they give us,” he added.
The Enstone based squad performed impressively well in the season until now. They are currently standing at fourth place in the constructors’ championship with 157 points. Moreover, they are ahead of Force India and behind their
main competitor, Ferrari.
Meanwhile, Raikkonen is standing at third place in the drivers’ championship with 116 points. In contrast, his teammate, Romain Grosjean is at 8th position in the drivers’ standings. Let’s see how they perform in the
