Lotus plan to launch some major updates in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus technical director James Allison has said that they have planned to launch some major updates in their car for 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Allison said that they are eagerly looking forward to come up with some upgrades which will hopefully improve the pace of their car and will help in attaining good result in the approaching race. Moreover, he said that they have been trying their best to
keep on making the substantial advancements in their car so as to fight for this year’s championship title.
“I'm quite excited about it,” Allison said. “The season seems to be getting stronger for us race-by-race. We should see pretty warm weather conditions in Germany, and nothing about that track should do anything other than fill us with confidence, so I'm
feeling positive in that regard. I'm excited too because we've got some interesting new updates for Germany and we're looking forward to see how they work out.”
The Enstone based team has emerged as one of the most competent contenders in the current season. They had the most successful pre-season testing programme this year and are presently standing at third place in the constructors’ championship with 144 points.
Additionally they are just 2 points ahead of McLaren and are 8 points behind Ferrari.
Meanwhile, their driver, Kimi Raikkonen is at 5th place in the drivers’ rankings with 83 points. Besides, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
Although, he has not been able to win a race until now, however, he has delivered some incredible performances which include three podium finishes.
On the other hand, his teammate, Romain Grosjean is currently at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 61 points and has secured two podium finishes.
Even though, the French driver has retired in four out of first nine grands prix, however, he has been considered as one of the most talented and favourite drivers in this season.
Above and beyond, it will be very interesting to see how the British team performs in the forthcoming races.
