Lotus seeking qualifying improvement in 2012 European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that they are targeting to make qualifying improvement in 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
Boullier said that they are expecting high temperature on the track of the next race which will hopefully provide them a competitive edge over other contenders. However, he said that they need to enhance their qualifying pace even if the temperature is low.
Nonetheless, he said that they have got some ideas for making the necessary advancements so as to come up strong in the approaching race.
“The tyres will be different, with the soft and medium compounds available. We’ll have to get used to these again. This said the track temperature should be high, the surface is more abrasive than

Montreal, and there are also more corners per lap. All this could suit the E20 quite well. This said, we need to improve our qualifying pace and also the way the car performs when the temperature drops. We’ve got some ideas already. Some of them will be implemented
in Valencia and we’ll see how it goes,” he said.
At present, the Enstone based team is at third place in the constructors’ championship with 108 points. Furthermore, they are 11 points ahead of Ferrari and 25 points behind McLaren.
Meanwhile their driver, Romain Grosjean is at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 53 points. Besides, he is 8 points ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and just 2 points behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
In addition, the French driver secured a striking second podium finish in the Canadian GP after setting off from 7th place in the grid. Over and above, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming race.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen is standing at 6th position in the drivers’ championship with 55 points. Additionally, he is just 2 points ahead of Grosjean and 12 points behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Even though, the Finnish driver faced difficulties with the car’s setup in the last race, however, he is aiming to strike back in the upcoming race.
