Lotus team principal Eric Boullier feels positive for 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Eric Boullier, the team principal of Lotus is feeling positive for the remaining 2012 Formula 1 season after a competitive start with the opening two races.
However, he said that he is disturbed because they have not been able to deliver their best performance so far.
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen secured a remarkable seventh place finish even after starting from 17th place in the grid, in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Moreover, the Finnish driver, after setting off from 10th place in the grid, secured fifth position in the second race and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
On the other hand, Raikkonen’s teammate, Romain Grosjean has not been able to score even a single point in the season to this point and was retired in both the races.
Nevertheless, Lotus is standing on fifth position in the constructors’ standings until now with 16 points which is reasonably good start for the season.
Furthermore, Boullier said that they have aimed to get to the fourth place in the constructors’ championship while he said that their efforts have made them able to take a competent start this year.
“The positives we have give us a strong basis to score good points this season, and on the evidence so far we are well placed to fight for our target of fourth place in the constructors’ championship,” said Boullier.
Besides, he said that they can identify many mistakes in the first two races from which they can get the learning to make the necessary developments and the substantial preparations for the races ahead.
“We can put down many of the negative aspects of the first two races to bad luck, or factors which we will all learn from,” he said. “We expect to be securing some more solid points in the near future, with both cars in the top 8.”
In addition, he said that they have a competitive car which can lead them to the front. He also said that they are trying their best to perform well in the races ahead while he said that both their drivers are very much determined for the upcoming race.
