Lotus team principal Eric Boullier thinks the team has done well at Montreal – Formula 1 news
Lotus team Principal Eric Boullier says the good result at the recently concluded Canadian Grand Prix was due to good team work.
He said that the team remained focused at keeping on the task at hand. The E20 was very well setup for the race and the strategies the team had devised for the car worked on both the cars. Both cars were able to finish higher than they started and that
is a positive.
Romain Grosjean finished with his career best second place finish. He showed good maturity and judgement as he managed his tyres well to finish ahead from the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and co.
Kimi Raikkonen said that the car felt a bit better during the race than it did in the qualifiers. He said that he could have done better if he had not got stuck behind cars and felt that the DRS zone was not long enough for him to make an impact. He was
happy to be able score points. He said that he was looking forward to the next race in Valencia to improve on his race results.
Grosjean was naturally happy with the result and said that even though the qualifiers did not go as well as the team would have liked it was good to know that they did well on race day.
“Yesterday was a bit disappointing, but we learnt a lot from Friday to Saturday and the fruits of all these lessons were seen today. It wasn't easy to manage the second set of tyres for so long, but it worked so I'll happily do that again for another result
like today. It's fantastic to finish in second position on my first visit to Montreal, hopefully I will finish in first on my second time! I would like to thank the entire team for the amazing job we've done this weekend,” he said.
After seven Grands Prix completed and seven different winners seen, Lotus will feel there is every bit of a chance for them to step up and conjure up a win. Tyre strategies will be crucial again and Lotus E20 has handles the tyre degradation the best out
of the leading cars on the grid. It will be interesting to see how Lotus progresses in the season.
