Lotus technical director James Allison says they are all set to make further progress – Formula 1 news
Lotus technical director, James Allison has said that they are fully prepared to make further advancements in their car so as to make their mark stronger in the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.
Allison said that they are aiming to keep on making the essential developments in their car rather than switching over to a completely new one which they did in the past.
"One of the things that our team has got a little bit wrong in the last couple of seasons is that we have been too ready to switch over to the new car a little bit too soon," he said. "So we started this year consciously intending to develop this one a bit
longer than normal."
The Enstone based team has proven itself one of the most competent contenders in this year’s championship fight. They have got a perfect mix of expertise, talent and experience. Moreover, their pair of drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, has been
deemed as the strongest combination which will definitely give a tough time to all the remaining teams.
Presently, Raikkonen is standing at 5th position in the drivers’ rankings with 116 points. Besides, he has a strong lead over Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and is just one point behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
On the other hand, Grosjean is at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 76 points and is sharing the position with Jenson Button of McLaren ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber.
Although, both the drivers have not been able to claim victory in the season so far, however, they have performed convincingly well and have scored important points for their team.
It will be important to mention that the Finnish driver has time and again insisted that they must improve their qualifying pace in order to take a competitive start in the race.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has recently said that they are looking forward to make the necessary step ups to come up stronger in the qualifying of the upcoming races.
Let’s see how they show up after the summer smash in the next nine races.
