Lou Piniella joins YES Network’s broadcast team – MLB News
Lou Piniella has joined the Yes Network’s broadcast team as a contributor, according to a  leading sports website. The source further added that former New York Yankees outfielder Piniella has no interest in performing the manager duties for the team.
Yankees’ current manager Joe Girardi was also promoted from Yankees broadcaster to manager but Piniella has no such intentions. Piniella believes that it will be wonderful opportunity for him to stay involved in the game of baseball. He will also have the
chance to stay in touch with his colleagues by being more informative and creative. The fans also love him and they will be waiting desperately to enjoy the broadcast.
In his ten year long tenure with the Yankees, Piniella made the most of available opportunities. For his amazing hitting abilities, he is a very famous figure among Yankees fans. In addition to the accomplishments on the field, the 68 year old has an inspiring
managerial career as he finished 14th in the list of all time managerial wins.
“I retired back in August of 2010 and I am going to stay retired,” Piniella said. “Being part of the Yankees organization is very special to me. I was there for a long time as a player, coach, manager, a GM, a broadcaster. I told Mr. Steinbrenner once the
only thing I had not done was be a trainer.”

“All I want to do is be a part of it in a small way, have fun doing my job as well as I possibly can and let the fans enjoy the broadcast,” said the 68-year-old Piniella.
Piniella managed New York Yankees from 1986-1988. However, he was fired from the organisation in 1988 due to some unknown reasons. The Manager has handled Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs since then and he finally decided
to retire in 2010. In an interview, he maintained that he has no plans to revive his managerial career.
Piniella is also expected to be at New York Yankees opening day coverage when they will take on Tampa Bay Rays. John Filippelli, Yes executive of operation said it will be a pleasure to have Piniella in the team.
