I have a low hum coming through my speakers when I run my turntable. I have it connected to a Sony mini-shelf system through a phono preamp. I am using a Stanton T80 turntable. I've been told this is a grounding problem. Can anyone help me out here?

  1. The turntable has impedance mismatch to you mini-shelf system, yes it has something to do with grounding. It will be trial and error solution with electronic component parts. Have your local tech sit on it.He is going to solder a small capacitor or a resistor to send the hum back to ground.

  2. My turntable has a grounding wire that is attached to a s***w in the back of receiver, is yours like that?
