We bought a our home a few months ago. I work 3 days a week at home as a software developer on my computer.. Our problem is our loud neighbor, an older couple with their son, daughter-n-law and 2 grand children boy 7 years & girl 4 years old. The very first weekend, they were up at 8:00 AM working on their vehicle with loud appliances, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, while screaming at their children, their children were also screaming. We could not even eat our Sunday meal together without them being so loud we could not even talk, this being with our windows closed. This was all weekend, Sat. and Sun. Throughout that first week, they continued with their noise, we heard everything they said, every time their children screamed, they sit on their patio every day from 5pm till 8pm making so much noise during the week. By the 3rd weekend we were getting annoyed. This 3rd weekend, they were in their yard, screaming playing in their above ground dough boy pool. The noise continued with their family visiting, barbeques right outside our home. We felt we lived with them as we heard everything they were saying, curses also. I have asked them to quite down but they told me that I can't change their lifestyle. Basically, they have no respect and are very insensitive. It's like they are in there own bubble, This was a dream to have our own home and are very disappointed. I can't afford to move. I know kids will be kids and I once was a kid but I don't remember being out of control. Thanks for reading.

  1. My friend has neighbor who has threatened to shoot their dogs, has stolen and given away two of their wondering cats, drinks to much, has a vicious dog, and scowls at them all the time. He's even called the police when their son has walked out of the house into the front yard. They had it pretty bad and he lived in my community also, he was  threat to everyone but now hes being evicted for disturbing their peace and threatening it can all work out, if they disturb you and your kids too much then you can try to talk to them and after that if they don't do any better you might be able to call the police.

He also moved in after them.

  2. I have scoured the web looking for solutions to the exact problem you are encountering. I have the same issue.  My problem is a tad different, though we seem to have the same exposure to the "clueless" neighbor that just "doesn't get it"!   We moved into a new community six years ago, white fiberglass fences, alleyway entrances to the driveway, zero lot lines, you get the picture...  Anyway, about 10 Months ago, the Bumpases moved in, or as my common law wife calls them "the Griswalds".  The Griswalds seemed awfully nice the first night we met them, though I thought it odd seeing shoeless children strolling about after 10pm, but we didn't pay too much attention to that.   I wish I had.  The Bumpases are renting the house, which makes the owner quite happy I would imagine, but certainly not us.  They are not the neighbors any of us had imagined.  They are loud, especially after 12:00pm (on most weekend nights) and quite disruptive.  They seem to love to park the General Lee in the front of our mailbox, which houses theirs too, just painting a picture here folks..  Also, our bedroom faces their back yard, and when they are out there, they're just too loud for too long.  I have spoken to the young renter many times, but to my exhaustive measures, have not gotten far at all.  I remember when I was a punk,  I thought the World revolved around me, what an idiot I was!!  Anyway, I was awake until 2:00am last night when I finally confronted the friend of the home renter (he was the b******e chatting up a storm), they eventually went inside, but not before weaving a tapestry of vulgarity that would make George Carlin proud, and directly into our window.  The home-renter apparently had to come out and drag him inside, for which I was happy, but whole experience left my common law wife very uneasy and nervous.  She didn't go back to sleep until after 4:00am.  We really miss the original homeowner, and I plan to contact him through State tax records and fill him in of his fool-proof "lease to whomever can afford to pay the mortgage" rental plan.  In reality, he still owns the house, and when he sees digital pictures of his yard, he may have second thoughts of extending his lease agreement to Jed Clampitt.  Oh, and no more confrontations for me, it's the Sheriffs office from now on. So word of advice for those going through this traumatic experience, whether it is kids, or the so called "adults", call the cops!!  I look forward to his eviction soon.  And by the way, the HOA, is rather useless, except when it comes to cashing your check, they always seem to do that right, and on time too.  And run for a seat in your local HOA, I may do just that, thats what democracy is all about.  And never give up on that dream to own your own piece of suburbia, as long as you're at least 10 acres from the nearest b******e.

  3. I'm sorry to hear you're having these problems in your new home.  I have a neighbor just like yours.  He swears at the top of his lungs, he and his wife scream for their dogs at 5:30 AM because they allow them to run loose, he has also mowed his lawn at 6 AM. He would also allow his dogs to defecate on our lawn until we put up a fence. He does not care who he is bothering - the world revolves around him.

We have lived next to them for 15 years.  I have grown a hedge for privacy and we keep the air conditioning on whenever they are outside (so we close all doors and windows).  There is basically nothing you can do unless it is after hours when people are sleeping - then you call the police to complain.  You have tried to talk to them and nothing was accomplished (of course not, they have no class).  Either put up a fence or quick growing plants (Green Giant Arborvitae is what I grew) and you will have privacy and not hear every thing that comes out of their mouths.

Keep your sanity and hope that it gets better.  My neighbors were horrible when we moved in and they have seemed to mellow.  Yours may too (pray).

  4. I'd call the police. Yes, when the police come they will be perfect... but maybe you can video tape them. Make sure to have the time, and video tape it from inside your house... so that they can hear that this is out of hand.

I don't really know what the police can do, other than give them a ticket or something...

  5. always check out the neighborhood before you move. you should have done that. welcome to suburbia h**l, no place to raise a family....

  6. I would just call the police when they're too loud. You can do that, if they are disturbing you. Being able to hear your neighbors with the windows closed while they are in their house is very loud. I would call the police for some quiet.
