  1. i may be wrong but i think its the fan belt :-)

  2. check tension on the power steering belt (should only be able to twist the belt 45 degrees approx) and check condition of belt, shiny on back?? cracks on ribs of belt?? needs replacing

  3. if you have power steering check the fluid it may be your tyres also make sure you have a wheel alignment.

  4. It is either low on power steering fluid or the power steering belt is loose.

  5. If the power steering pump is screeching as you suggest, it's the belt that needs tightening, adding lubrication will only abate this noise for a short period of time, and not stop it slipping, unless it's the pump which is worn out, or low on fluid, another possibility is the alternator belt is slipping, as already stated lubrication is a good way to eliminate these one by one, most of the problem nowadays is the multi grove v belts that the manufactures use.

  6. I had this on my Wolsley 6. It was a leak in the power steering. A loud screech on tight turns was the first sign. I kept it going for quite a while with regular top ups of fluid, but finally had to have it repaired. You can tell by checking the steering oil level, or just take a look under the car to see if there are any oily patches. You could buy the correct fluid and give it a top up anyway then see if the noise stops.

  7. Its the drive belt that needs adjusting/replacing.  The sound you hear is the belt slipping.

  8. If you have power steering it could be the pump belt slipping. Easy fix-

Pour brake fluid onto a rag and wipe onto belt, the fluid softens the rubber which has a tendency to go hard. If you let me know model of car I might be able to be more specific.

  9. sounds like it could be C.V. joint requires replacement easy enough job get a few quotes from any small garage
