Loud squeel as soon as i start up the car?

i have a 2000 monte carlo and when i start my car it does this squel for about a min and it sorta sounds like a belt squel and kinda not and i know it cant be cuz i had the belt changed 2 months ago anyboyd got any clue what this could be it seems to only do it when i start it after its been sitting like over night or 5 or 6 hours cuz when its warm it never seems to do it

  1. you have a spring loaded tensioner...there is no adjustment. it can simply be a defective belt...take it back and have it changed under warrenty. could also be a bad tensioner or idler pulley or pulley from another component.


  2. Belts stretch. It may need re-tensioning. Could also be water pump bearing.

  3. sounds like a slipping belt, its better to have the belt slip a little rather than putting things under massive stresses because its to tight.

    you prob can tighten it a bit but its better a to slip a little than to tight.  

  4. start the car and put some water on your belts. if it stops squeeling its a loose belt if not its a bearing or a crank problem hope its the belt

  5. sounds like the belt or a belt tensioner just changing the belt dont mean it was done correctlly
