Lough Roe Lady gets vote over The Blarney Rose and Sherika in Gowran Park Thanks All Its Customers In 2012 Mares Handicap Hurdle
Philip M. Byrne’s 6-year-old, Lough Roe Lady, looks progressive on the evidence of her fresh victory at Thurles, and should be preferred over The Blarney Rose and Sherika in Gowran Park Thanks All Its Customers In 2012 Mares Handicap Hurdle, being hosted
by Gowran Park on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
The connections are expecting the mare to give her best shot. The 6-year-old will be very hard to beat, if she builds on her fresh success. The Ronnie O'Neill-bred went on vacations in May, after having no-so-tasteful season. Under the care of new trainer,
she returned to action with a huge bang, and recorded her first victory at the end of last month.
In the Horse & Jockey Handicap Hurdle, the daughter of Stowaway made great progress after taking a lazy start. In the hands of Davy Ruddell, the dashing mare led in the final stages, and eventually beat the 3-1 favourite, Dont Tell Pa, by two and a quarter
lengths. A comprehensive victory over the favourite runner must have boosted up her confidence to a great extent.
The Blarney Rose, a recent point-to-point winner, is well treated, and looks a major player. Yet, it will be a big task for Eugene M O'Sullivan’s mare to trouble Lough Roe Lady. The 7-year-old has performed consistently throughout this year, and will be
one of the toppers today.
Sherika showed good improvement last time, when capturing the second place behind Happy New Year. But she needs even more to open her account. Mrs Grainne M O'Connor’s charge is running well these days, but certainly needs something extra special to taste
her first success.
None of the other runners makes any appeal. In search of €6,900, ten horses have reached Gowran Park. The going is soft, thus the participants will need to be really careful. The race will be held over a distance of two miles and four furlongs. The thrill
is due to start at 14:35 GMT. It will be interesting to see how much fight The Blarney Rose and Sherika show against Lough Rode Lady. Good luck to all the contestants.
