Loughbeag Roopy wins the 400m Gala Coral Standard convincingly

The 400 metres Gala Coral Standard Open Race was won by Loughbeag Roopy, who was the oldest hound of all that participated. The event took place at Romford on Friday, January 13, 2012, with the cash prize of £175 at stake.
Loughbeag Roopy was the favourite to win the race with a starting price of 5 to 2, and he certainly lived up to the expectations of the people, who placed their bets on him.

He popped out from trap number one, and completed the total distance in 24.72 seconds.

No other hound came close to him, as he showed express speed and very good stamina.
The M.A. Cumner trained dog is the son of Droopys Kewell out of All Things Equal, and was born in June 2008.
Second place went to Barley Lineker, who like Loughbeag Roopy, clocked the distance inside the 28 seconds barrier. He completed the total distance in 24.98 seconds, 0.26 adrift of the race winner.
Barley Lineker had a starting price of 6 to 1, and is trained by R.W. Athow. He is the son of Greenfield Hero out of Drumcrow Rapid, born in April 2009.
Takeshi Lee, trained by P Simmonds, ended up in a distant third place. He completed the race distance in 25.20 seconds, after breaking in from trap number three.

His starting price was 7 to 2, so his trainer would have been pleased with the outcome of the race.
Takeshi Lee was the youngest of all hounds, born in January 2010. He is the son of Dods Delight out of Castle Barns.
Fourth place went to Aero Tulisa, who completed the total distance in 25.34 seconds, after going in from trap number four. She had a starting price of 7 to 1 and is trained by P.W. Young.
Aero Tulisa was born in September 2009, and she is the daughter of Skywalker Ace out of Centenarys Jo.
Further down the order, Droopys Gizmo completed the race distance in 25.38 seconds, breaking in from trap number five. He is trained by D. Mullins and had a starting price of 7 to 2.
Another dog, Soviet Nailer, trained by P.W. Young, completed the race last. He went in from trap number two and had a starting price of 11 to 4.
Soviet Nailer is the son of Boherduff Light out of Droopys Mynah and was born in October 2008.
