Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel paired in the Maybank Malaysian Open - Golf News
Two leading South African golfers, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, have been paired for the Maybank Malaysian Open, scheduled to start from Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Both the players are coming from the Masters Tournament that was held last week at the Augusta National Golf Club.
Oosthuizen finished second in the sudden death playoffs after getting defeated against the American Bubba Watson.
Charl Schwartzel, who was defending the title this year, was unimpressive and finished at the 50th place on the leaderboard.
His poor performance also cost him a place in the top-10s of the Official World Golf Rankings. He is currently ranked at the 12th place.
Throughout the Masters Tournament, Oosthuizen was totally impressive and displayed some real set of skills on the course.
In the final round, he also scored a double eagle, albatross, on the second hole of the Augusta National, which no one else has managed to score in the past.
Moreover, he became the fourth player to score an albatross in the Masters Tournament.
Yet, he did not succeed in earning his second major victory because Watson had a miraculous shot on the second extra hole in the playoffs.
Watson made a beautiful shot from the rough between the trees to reach 10 feet away from the pin. Meanwhile, Oosthuizen’s shot landed just before the green and he then used three shots to make the putt.
"It was tough after that double eagle," said the 2010 Open champion."When something like that happens early in your round you think that this is it - that was my first double eagle ever - so it was tough the next five holes to just get my head around it
and just play the course".
"I don't feel like I could have hit two better putts in the play-off, but congrats to Bubba. He did brilliantly".
Now, he is trying to forget what happened at the Augusta National and is completely focusing on his game for the coming tournaments.
Therefore, he is completely prepared to take on his opponents at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in order to maintain his momentum of playing good golf on the course.
