Louis Oosthuizen healed and excited
British Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen, who injured his ankle this year, is in perfect form now and is ready to tee off at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The Championship will start on December 9 at the Leopard Creek Country
Club in South Africa and will initiate the European Tour for the 2011 season. Oosthuizen injured his ankle ligament by stepping in a pothole when he was on an adventure trip in South Africa.
The injury that put Oosthuizen on bed rest for several weeks made him miss many important tournaments of 2010. Due to his injury, Louis did not participate in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship that took place in Scotland following
the Ryder Cup and the Grand Slam in Bermuda.
The South African player played in his native land at the Nedbank golf Challenge at Sun City last week. Due to a stomach illness, he could not really do his best and finished last in the 12-man field. He said that he could not
play the way he wanted to. However, now he has improved on his game and is really looking forward to the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Louis will be the highest ranked player in the field at number 24 and can surely expect close competition with fellow South African player Charl Schwartzel. Charl, who is at number 39, has an amazing record at Leopard Creek and
knows it like the back of his hand. Schwartzel won the title in 2004 and was the runner up in 2005, 2006, and 2009. Many other former winners will be at The Alfred Dunhill Championship, which is co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour.
Oosthuizen, apart from doing well on the tournament is also determined to get a good start for the 2011 Race to Dubai list. Being focused right from the start would surely help the talented golfer. It has been quite some time since
Louis played competitive golf, and it would take him a tournament or two to get back in. Oosthuizen said that this one will be his third tournament since being back and he is feeling very confident now.
“I'm now at Leopard Creek and you don't have to say anything about this place. It's probably one of the most special places to come every year, with the park and everything, so it's good to be back and I look forward to the
week ahead,” said Oosthuizen.
