Louis Oosthuizen hottest player at Maybank Malaysian Open, confident to win
After performing well at the Masters, Louis Oosthuizen is heading to the Maybank Malaysian Open, a European Tour event.
The 29-year-old South African professional golfer has played extremely well in the first major of the year. He scored a 10-under 278 and finished on the runner-up position impressively.
Now, he is heading to the European Tour staged event and is confident to be stunning at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
At the Masters, he faced a defeat at the hands of Bubba Watson in a playoff mode. Both the professionals have been scoring well since day one and recorded their best finish of the year as well.
Watson made an early birdie on the second hole in the playoff mode and won his first title of the Masters. Oosthuizen is disappointed about losing the major title by a close margin.
“I’m still a little disappointed that it didn’t go my way but it is just one of those things. It makes me want that green jacket even more now. I think anyone who is playing well wants to try to get some wins under their belts,” Oosthuizen said.
He added, “Any performance in a Major, whether it is winning, losing a play-off or finishing in the top three, will give a lot of confidence going forward”.
After competing well at the Augusta National Golf Club, Oosthuizen has boosted his confidence. He is also motivated to win the Maybank Malaysian Open title by scoring enormously.
“I’m just looking to continue my good form. I think the first round will be pretty tough because of the tiredness, but after some good rest, hopefully I can play well,” said Oosthuizen.
There are many other players who will be giving a tough time to Oosthuizen. Some of the top contenders are Charl Schwartzel, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Soren Kjeldsen and Jason Knutzon.
However, Oosthuizen has more experience than the others and has ample chances to be the winner of the European Tour event title. He only has to score consistently and saving bogeys will also help.
All the players will display their game at the Maybank Malaysian Open from April 12 to 15, 2012, at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
