Louis Oosthuizen is now in PGA Grand Slam of Golf
Louis Oosthuizen earned his way to the third spot in the annual PGA Grand slam of golf.
After being declared the Champion of the 139th Open Championship that was held at St Andrews, Louis Oosthuizen is ready to fly to Southampton, Bermuda where the annual grand slam will be held.
PGA grand slam is an event that takes place to determine the title of “champion of champions”. It is the event in which all the major champions gather to acclaim the title. The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is the event that takes place annually and it is contested by the winners of the Masters tournament, the US open, the British Open championship, and the PGA Championship. The current prize fund is $1.35 million, of which $600,000 goes to the winner.
The big event will be taking place in Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda from October 18th to 20th. The course is designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones. The spectacular Port Royal Golf Course is a sight to behold. In fact, this par 71 course challenges even the finest players from the 1st hole of par 4 to the 18th hole.
Louis Oosthuizen has become the first player ever to win his major championship at St Andrews with the score of 71 in the final round. Before him it was Tony Lema in 1964, to hold the same description.
From 1962 to 1966 Tony Lema was one of the brightest professional stars of golf. He won 12 tournaments on the PGA tour. That era included his major victory in 1964 British Open at St. Andrews. Tony Lema won this championship, with a 7-stroke lead in the final round after scoring 68 in two rounds. He wrapped up the tournament by beating runner up Jack Nicklaus by 5 and Roberto De Vicenzo by 6 points.
Louis Oosthuizen is the 4th on the list of South Africans to win the Open Championship, after Bobby Locke, Gary Player and Ernie Els. He covered his last 48 holes with 16-under-par 272 score smashing a seven shot victorious lead over Lee Westwood. He holds the record of the largest margin of victory second to Golf champion Tiger Woods' eight-shot victory at St. Andrews in 2000.
Other than Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson, and Graeme McDowell will be taking part in the grand event.
Graeme McDowell is also on the list after he became the ninth player to make the U.S. Open his first PGA Tour victory. He scored a final-round 74 and made his way into the PGA grand slam.
He finished at even-par 284, one shot ahead of Frenchman Gregory Havret. Phil Mickelson is the third player in the grand slam who qualified after winning his third Masters Tournament with three stroke victory over Lee Westwood.
Besides, Lucas Glover the past champion of champions list includes Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Ben Crenshaw, Jim Furyk, Tom Lehman, Greg Norman, Angel Cabrera, Nick Price and Ian Woosnam.
The 36 hole PGA Grand Slam of Golf will be broadcasted live on Turner Network Television to an audience of 100 countries. The world will once again witness a spectacular foursome between the titans. Last year Lucas Glover posted a five-stroke victory over Angel Cabrera on the national television.

Louis Oosthuizen is one of the players to contest for the greatest championship being held at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda from October 18th to 20th in 2010. According to the experts Louis has a very good chance of grabbing the title as he holds the lead by the largest margin and a lead like this (7 strokes) is a true victory.
