Louis Oosthuizen one of the favourites for the DP World Tour Championship
Louis Oosthuizen has had a wonderful 2012 year. It could not have been any better than this. Although he could not win a major, playing on two of the world’s most prestigious tournaments while maintaining his form and consistency is huge asks.
The South African started the season with a bang, wining the Africa Open in January. His best performance of the season probably came at the Masters, where he finished second after a neck to neck playoff loss to Bubba Watson.
Oosthuizen was all set to win the Masters until Watson produced that amazing shot on the 10th hole to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Louis bounced back well after the heart breaking loss and won the Maybank Malaysian Open. After that, it was a steady ride for the South African, who was in the mix of certain tournaments but failed to close them out on top.
At the 141st British Open Championship, he played some excellent golf. Although he finished T19 at the Royal Lytham, it was a decent showing, nonetheless.
His formed declined slightly. However, in the past couple of months, he has been in tremendous form. He finished sixth at the BMW Masters Open and at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
At the recently ended Singapore Open, Oosthuizen finished second after a playoff loss to Matteo Manassero. This was his second playoff this year, the first one being at the Masters, where he lost to Bubba Watson.
Currently, the South African is ranked sixth in the world. This shows that not only has he been playing well on the European Tour, but he has been playing some excellent golf on the PGA Tour as well.
Although he has not won on the PGA Tour this year, he had an excellent year in the States. Out of the nineteen events that he played, he missed the cut only in only four of the events.
Apart from that, he had two second place finishes and a third place finish. Oosthuizen is ranked four on the Race to Dubai standings and this shows that he has been in hot form this year, shooting some low rounds throughout.
Heading to Dubai, Oosthuizen is one of the favourites for the DP World Championship. DP World Championship is a very lucrative tournament. The event is worth $8 million.
Rory McIlroy is tipped for a victory in Dubai, considering the way his season has gone so far. However, Oosthuizen is a senior pro on the tour and he knows how to win big tournaments, as he himself is a major winner.
Louis has a stroke average of 69.53, which is very healthy when combined with his driving accuracy, which is 69.11.
A good start to the event will be the key for most of the players, including Louis Oosthuizen, at the Jumeirah Golf Club.
