Louis Oosthuizen plays the HSBC after injury
Louis Oosthuizen suffered from an ankle injury in the last two months and hasn’t been able to play much golf since the British Open. The twenty-eight year old appeared last at St. Andrews and had been barely able to walk after that.
According to recent reports, Oosthuizen emerged out of his injury zone at the HSBC championship after carding an impressive 69. The golfer thus carded a three under, marking his return in the World of golf.
Oosthuizen said that he played nice. The twenty-eight year old golfer said that his ankle didn’t feel awesome in the first round of the HSBC event and thought a level par, or 1 or 2 over it, was a good enough score.
The golfer played his well-know short game remarkably and only stuck in a few places which he came out of easily.
“I tried finding ways out of places where my short game stuck, and I was successful”, Oosthuizen said.
The golfer from South Africa appeared last time on the 12th of September at the Dutch Open and finished his game at fourth place. After ending the Dutch Open, Oosthuizen travelled to his home for holiday, his friend’s, Charl Schwartzel, wedding
and a hunting trip.
His plans conversely faltered when the twenty-eight year old injured a buck and tripped while running after it only to injure his ankle. Oosthuizen tripped due to a pot hole, tore his left ankle ligaments and refused to go to the hospital and continued his
hunting.
Regarding his injury, Oosthuizen stated that he ruined his first day of hunting and felt bad about it. The twenty-eight year old said that although he had hurt his ankle pretty bad he continued his hunt by sitting on a pick up.
“I didn’t walk or run or anything of that sort and i felt like my ankle was cemented”, Oosthuizen said.
After his trip, the doctors asked Oosthuizen that he would take probably four to six weeks to get back in form. Before he grabbed this injury, Oosthuizen had plans on entering the PGA Grand Slam of Golf and the Dunhill Links Championship. His trip to Bermuda
and celebration in St. Andrews was however all made in vain given the left ankle and it’s worn out ligaments.
On the European Tour, Oosthuizen is standing at the eighth place in the Order of Merit and is a bit far at the back to attain a place for the Race to Dubai. The South African though isn’t worried about anything right now, his performance at the first round
of the HSBC Championship is a justification enough that he only wants to play a solid game of golf.
