  1. The prepared mind is ready to act on any opportunity that may present itself. The more you know, the more you can capitalize on an opportunity.

    For example , if you go to the racetrack and want to bet, you might have a better chance of picking a winner if you know how to read a racing form to figure out the past performances of the horses you want to bet on.

    If you are a scientist and have a history of conducting experiments, the lessons of  those past experiments may help you to succeed in the new experiment.

    If you want to win a karaoke contest it helps if you know the song and have sung  it before .
