Louis van Gaal has defended his selection of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753’ 23-man squad for the upcoming friendly game against Germany at Amsterdam Arena on Wednesday, November 14.
The Dutch trainer has insisted that there is no room in his squad for any player who is not completely fit or struggling with his form.
“My team is based on the form and shape of the players, but there are also those that are unfit or already injured”, Van Gaal was quoted as saying to journalists.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998 have been included in the 23-man squad by the former Bayern Munich boss despite the fact none of the aforementioned players are 100 percent match fit.
However, the Dutchman has made it clear that he will replace these four players should they not achieve match fitness before the game.
“Those places are still open (Lens, Narsingh, Strootman and Stekelenburg]. I think a selection must be earned”, Van Gaal added.
Several Dutch pundits criticised the veteran Dutch tactician over his decision to leave out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799, from the 23-man squad.
However, the 61-year-old has stressed that he only left the highly-talented midfielder out of his squad due to his lack of game time in recent weeks.
“Sneijder is not in that group of four because he has not played for six weeks. He's fit enough to train, but not to play matches. Everybody has to be fit, we're not a rehabilitation centre”, Van Gaal added.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 boss went on to express confidence that the Flying Dutchmen will be able to grind out a good result against Germany.
“Now that I know them, I don't intend to make a lot of changes to the team” Van Gaal concluded.
Since the 61-year-old tactician has taken the reins of Netherlands, they have only suffered defeat in one of their five games.
