Louisiana Derby attracts 14 entries at Fair Grounds
Fourteen three-year-olds are set to unleash their talent in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby, to be held at Fair Grounds, on April 1st. There are some dangerous novices in the line-up, who will give their best shot in an attempt to grab the winning prize worth $1,000,000.
Among the confirmed entries are:
Mr. Bowling,
Mark Valeski,
Fire Alarm,
Windsurfer,
Finnegans Wake,
Flashy Sunrise,
Cigar Street,
Shared Property,
Arm Force,
Comisky's Humor,
Z Dager,
Rousing Sermon,
Hero of Order, and
Afford.
Despite Mr. Bowling’s dismal performance last time around, the bookies have given him the highest starting price today.
The bay and brown colt certainly deserves a lot of respect, as he proved his mettle at the start of this year.
After failing to spark on his debut in October last year, the three-year-old did not lose his determination. On his seasonal return, he was pretty impressive, finishing first in the Lecomte Stakes.
Luck also twisted in favour of J. Larry Jones’ trainee, who sealed top position just by a head's distance. He was not able to perpetuate his good work to subsequent race, as he completed the order of finish in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes.
Although he is quite new to the ring, he holds enough experience at the Fair Grounds’ track. Hence, one can easily expect him to shine in today’s event.
Another runner who is likely to earn decent odds is Mr. Bowling’s stable mate, Mark Valeski. The three-year-old made his debut in February, when he fascinated everyone with his immense talent.
In the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes, the dashing runner missed first position only by a nose. Following his superb performance on debut, Mark Valeski is currently the centre of attention. In today’s race, he will ridden by Rosie Napravnik.
Steve Margolis’ Cigar Street is also likely to attract some punters. The bay and brown colt’s connections are expecting him to start his journey with a big victory. He has talent to outsmart his rivals, but one will have to wait and see how he handles pressure.
Mr. Bowling and Mark Valeski are strong contenders for the top spot. However, Cigar Street cannot be ignored, as he might sneak in to cause an upset. Bettor.com wishes best of luck to everyone.
