The ever-frank Montpellier Herault president has wasted little time in taking a swipe at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 who he thinks would be ‘annoyed’ at the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic
On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain’s signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent shockwaves throughout French and European footballing world. While many people are still wondering how much money the club has at its disposal, Montpellier Herault president, Louis Nicollin
has a different take on the whole matter.
Last season, Louis Nicollin kept on denying La Paillade’s chances of winning the Championelle until the last day of the season. This move certainly attenuated the pressure on his side and once again, the robust president has taken some pressure off his side.
Loulou is not really bullish about his side’s chances of defending their first-ever Championelle. The president is hopeful that PSG are the ones who pip them to the title which has taken pressure off the players.
“I hope Paris succeed us as French champions.”
While talking to reporters, Loulou admitted that Olympique de Marseille, who have a fierce rivalry with Paris Saint-Germain, would be annoyed to see how much their enemy is spending on new acquisitions. The president then aimed a jibe at Marseille’s transfer
market aspirations.
“That would really annoy Marseille, and I’d love that. OM have only brought in Patatino,” said the controversial Montpellier supremo in reference to the Rhone club’s solitary summer signing Florian Raspentino.
Calling the player spud or ‘patate’ may seem harsh but the Montpellier president then showed his lack of prejudice by saying that he has never really been impressed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029.
“I have two jerseys from this ‘Ibra’ guy. But he’s never impressed me much.”
While it remains to be seen if Montpellier president’s words will come back to haunt him in future, the Frenchman would be glad to know that his own players are doing pretty well in pre-season games.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions beat Lozere 5-0 and beat Ligue 2 side Arles-Avignon 3-1 a few days back.
Montpellier Herault’s 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign kicks off when they face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 in the Trophée des Champions one off at the Red Bull Arena in New York City.
