Evgeni Lovchev believes that CSKA Moscow have a decent chance to end their long wait to claim silverware after having an impressive start to the ongoing league campaign
Well known football expert, Evgeny Lovchev, has backed CSKA Moscow’s Leonid Slutsky to win the Russian Premier League title this season, saying that the 41-year-old coach has a best chance to silence his critics after benefiting
from a good squad at his disposal.
As things stand, the Armeytsy are at the top-spot on the league table with 36 points. The Moscow-based club are yet to draw a league tie, have claimed 12 wins and suffered 3 defeats out of the total 15 matches played so far this
season.
And while many sports analysts have downplayed the Moscow-based club’s chances to win the league after seeing their pathetic UEFA Europa League campaign this season, Lovchev remains hopeful that the Russian outfit can claim silverware
after taking full advantage of their European absence.
The Armeytsy, meanwhile, deserve all the credit for their back-to-back impressive performances in the league competition as they are yet to record a defeat since mid-October.
Nonetheless, CSKA have met their expectations despite playing without a host of key players this season. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seydou-Doumbia-c33175 and Alexei Berezutski, on whom the Moscow-based club have relied too much in the past, missed
crucial matches after sustaining injuries.
Tomas Necid, on the other hand, is yet to mark his first appearances for the Armeytsy after recovering from an injury.
“CSKA, in my opinion, have a chance to win the league due to three reasons.”
“First, they have a stable composition to replace the injured players. For example, Ahmed Musa replaced Doumbia within no time.”
“Secondly, they have a powerful midfield comprising of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rasmus-Elm-c30628. Each of them can score or create a scoring chance.”
“Third, they have a coach that has been training them for a couple of years. “ The Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
Lovchev went on to warn CSKA against complacency, insisting that they will face tough competition from Zenit St. Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala in the race to win the league title.
