Evgeni Lovchev has blasted Unai Emery for his questionable selection in the UEFA Champions League group stage game and has commented on Anzhi Makhachkala’s Lassana Diarra
Spartak Moscow continued their below par start to the ongoing UEFA Champions League campaign after suffering a 2-3 defeat in the second group stage match against Celtic FC at Luzhniki stadium on Tuesday.
The visitors came from behind to score a late goal after Juan Insaurralde was sent-off in the 63 minute.
The Spartachi came into this game on the back of a defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 in the opening group stage game of the continental tournament.
The Moscow-based club wasted a decent opportunity to climb up the group table after losing the home match against the Scottish Premier League club.
Evgeni Lovchev has lamented Spartak’s latest defeat, questioning Unai Emery’s selection and tactics during the game.
Emery, who joined the Russian outfit from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aiden-McGeady-c4091 on the flanks.
Lovchev insisted that it was really disappointing to see a poor selection of players on the field, and insisted that he could not understand why the Spanish tactician tried a new formation.
The former Dynamo Moscow man was of the belief that McGeady failed to impress him after putting in a weak performance against the club whom he played for so many years prior to his move to Moscow.
"It seems that Spartak will put enough pressure on the visitors before the game. However, Celtic displayed outstanding football and came from behind to win the match. They had more hunger to win the match.”
“Frankly, I do not quite understand Emery’s game plan. He played three central midfielders - De Zeeuw, Carioca and Kallstrom - leaving McGeady on the flank.  The Irish man did little to help his team.” The Soviet Top League winner
was quoted as saying.
While commenting on Anzhi Makhachkala’s Lassana Diarra, Lovchev admitted that the Dagestani club have signed a decent player from Real Madrid this summer who can help them claim a decent spot at the end of the season.
