Evgeny Lovchev has questioned Capello’s decision to include the controversy-hit midfielder ahead of World Cup qualifiers and has warned Russian defenders against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629
Evgeny Lovchev was surprised to know that the Russian national football team head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Denisov-c16694 in the squad ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches against Portugal and
Azerbaijan.
Lovchev has fired a barb at Capello, saying that the former Real Madrid coach made a massive mistake to call the central midfielder to the national team ahead of the qualifying matches despite the Denisov’s unprofessional behaviour
at club level.
Denisov, who has been restricted to train with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti over a reported salary issue, has not played a competitive game since Zenit’s 3-0 defeat in the UEFA Champions League match against Malaga.
The 28-year-old midfielder, meanwhile, has missed three league encounters and the European fixture against AC Milan at Petrovsky stadium.
“I think Capello made a mess to play Denisov. Moreover, I don’t think that Igor will enter the field with confidence after missing out competitive games for his club. I think Capello made a wrong decision for the first time since
taking over as the manager. The coach has taken a risk and I don’t think Denisov can help Russia to win.” The Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
Lovchev went on to urge http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 to win the upcoming qualifying match against Portugal, insisting that the Euro 2008 semi-finalists will find it difficult to defeat the Navigators despite their earlier success in the group stages
of the tournament.
Capello’s men will host Portugal at Luzhniki stadium after winning the previous two qualifying matches against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Northern-Ireland-c2972 respectively.
And while both the teams are unbeaten in the competition so far, Lovchev believes that it will be a test of the nerves.
Lovchev went on to warn Capello’s army against Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that the in-form winger-c*m-striker is capable of destroying any defence in the world. The 63-year-old backed the Russian defenders to stop the in-form Portuguese
player in order to win the match.
