Evgeny Lovchev has fired a barb at the Russian national team, saying that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s men could have done better in the qualifying match against the Navigators
Famous football expert, Evgeny Lovchev, was unhappy with the playing style of the Russian national team in a qualifying match of the World Cup against Portugal at Luzhniki stadium on Friday.
The win puts Russia at the top of Group F and three points ahead of the Portuguese national team. However, the Euro 2008 semi-finalists have only until Tuesday to protect their lead as they are going to face Azerbaijan in the upcoming
qualifying match on Tuesday.
Lovchev has hailed the Russia’s third consecutive win in the cup tournament after their earlier wins against Northern Ireland and Israel respectively. However, the 63-year-old was unhappy to see a defensive display from Fabio Capello’s
men much of the match.
The Russian football analyst revealed that Russia were fortunate enough to retain the one-goal lead after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kerzhakov-c4569 had put the home side on front in the 6th minute of the match.
And while he showered praise on the team’s prolific defence that stopped the players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 from scoring a goal, Lovchev urged his national team to work harder and improve offensively.
“I do not understand why everybody is celebrating too much after the win. I don’t think there’s much to enjoy the win. We marked a defensive display so there’s nothing to cheer about. Although we have collected nine points from
the opening three games but there’s a long way to go.” The Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
Lovchev revealed that Russia remained on the back foot for the last 30 minutes of the match despite marking a scintillating display against the Navigators. He revealed that it was shameful to watch a team that tried to defend the
only goal of the match during the second-half of the match.
The former Dynamo Moscow player heaped praise on Kerzhakov, saying that the 29-year-old impressed him after scoring a wonderful goal. Lovchev urged the Russian striker to help his national team in retaining the top-spot on their
respective group table.
