Love bird and a canary

can a love bird ( F) and a canary (M) lay eggs(make babies) if they are put together?.. i dont really know about birds so..

  4. No, they cannot.  They are different species.  However a canary would be completely defenseless against a lovebird and the lovebird may kill it.  Please don't house these two birds together.

  6. Umm.. to the above answerer, no, it's actually not anything LIKE a lab and a golden retriever - which CAN interbreed and produce puppies.

    Crazy people.

    Labs and retrievers are the same species..

    Lovebirds and canaries, however, are not.

    Interspecies breeding is usually next to impossible - it happens in very rare instances but often with infertility as the result (e.g., Ligers, etc).

    So - no, even if they attempted to breed - which they most likely would not - they wouldn't be successful.
